This afternoon Nadia Whittome has met with local organisations Harmless and the Tomorrow Project to discuss local mental health services, the impact of COVID-19 and much needed funding for the sector.
Nadia Whittome said:
“I value the work of third sector organisations like Harmless and the Tomorrow Project, which provide a vital lifeline for people facing a mental health crisis. They have been dealing with double the number of referrals since the pandemic without an increase in their funding. Recognising the snowballing crisis in mental ill health, I call on the government to urgently make available funding for specialist mental health services, as part of a post COVID-19 recovery plan”.
