Responding to the 2021 Budget, Nadia Whittome, MP for Nottingham East, said:

“This is a short-sighted Budget which fails to address the multiple crises our country faces – from the climate emergency to deep inequality.

“There was no extra money for our schools, NHS or social care. Many of our key workers, including NHS staff who risked their lives, will have their wages frozen. Measures to tackle the climate crisis are nowhere near the scale required.

“This Budget could have redesigned our economy as we recover from the pandemic, so it works for the people of Nottingham, not the super-rich. Instead, this tinkering around the edges with a give-away here and a gimmick there will do little to bring meaningful change to the lives of my constituents.”
